Vice President of Operations
1981 was a great year for Clark: he married his wife Dee, the love of his life, and started his career at Sunny Day Guide. Back in those days he was totally green to the tourist publication industry. Bill Blue and Bob Mervis, the company’s founders, taught him so many lessons that still apply today. “Think like a tourist,” was Sunny Day’s mantra. The goal was then as it is now – to provide the visitor with valuable area information so they will get the most out of their vacation experience. Now, over 35 years later and with a few title changes, Clark is Vice President of Operations. “I’ve seen an enormous amount of change in the tourist publication industry, but there is still nothing as rewarding as simply helping our customers achieve their desired goals using marketing strategies based on our extensive experience and vast understanding of the vacationer,” he explains.
Clark enjoys traveling to the different resort destinations where Sunny Day Guide publications can be found. Meeting customers, establishing relationships and understanding their needs is so essential. In business these days, we all too often only communicate electronically; that is why it is so important to Clark that our Sunny Day customers see a face behind the brand, someone who will stand behind the product and help insure a positive customer experience.
Clark received his BFA degree in Graphic Design and has lived on Virginia Beach’s North-end for over 30 years. “Nothing beats an early morning walk on the beach to put life in perspective,” remarks Clark. When he’s not working, he enjoys painting, Emma & Coco, their two, very spoiled, miniature longhaired dachshunds, and visits to Washington, DC to spend time with his son.
